Blogtober 2026 - Day 22

Had a night full of dreams, and I can't remember them.
Such a pity, as it feels like I said to myself to remember... They were very colourful!

As soon as I was downstairs I started to prepare things for the nephrologist. I want my bloodwork checked by them and medication adjusted.

Yesterday I got the results of the vitamin D check.
I don't know who ordered it. It must have been more than a week after the rest of the tests, considering how long it takes (maximum 72 hours).

Might have been the cardiologist, studying my results once again. Finding out what caused what... Did the kidneys cause the thyroid to malfunction, or the thyroid the kidneys..?

I have a serious vitamin D deficiency too...

So this morning I made 3 attachments: my pharmacogentic pass (which tells which enzymes break up medications...or not.), a list of my medications, and a nephrology anamnesis. (Saves time with my first face-to-face consultation.)

Then wrote a message, describing the development of symptoms before the kidneytest, telling I have had these episodes before.  Reported difficulties with keeping my glucode low.  Asking which medications need to be started before I leave for England: Vitamin D, calcium... but not the over the counter stuff, as I have taken them and won't absorb them. And maybe thyroid medication...

Informed them which doctors are on my case at the moment and told the unknown doctor to report to the cardiologist too.

As a letter like that might stay in the files for days, I called the secretary after the lunchbreak.
We had a good laugh... my letter came in 12.04 and she had send it to one of the doctors at 12.08 hrs!!
Talk about fast!

That was fast... but after sending my letter, she found out the doc will be available tomorrow... not today...

In a way I am fine with that. It creates some distance, some breathing time.

In the afternoon the wind was rather bad.
I had a look in the garden and found out the extra cover over the gardenhouse (just a plastic one) had been blown off.

I managed to pull it over my "summer retreat" bit by bit. Each time when the wind was gone I quickly pulled it further. Then tied it down at several places.

Inside I folded the bed. I assume I won't sleep there anymore this autumn and winter, and if I will I can unfold it easily.

Before going in I took the last apple from the tree, and found a bud on the orange rose!
The red climbing rose has still flowers..

The temperature had been nice, but it was gettig cold.

Before dinnertime my daughter ordered pokebowl for today and tomorrow. She is away tomorrow and I have plans to tidy and clean a kind of compartment under the stairs which has been closed up after Mr. J died. He kept some stuff in there, but there were mice. We closed it off, so they couldn't get in that compartment. And the house has been free after that mice-winter. (Ugh!)
I expect some bottles, a few tins, and maybe some large items he kept there.

I also can imagine the nephrologist will call me in..

So one way or another it will be nice not to cook and eat something healthy and delicious tomorrow.

We got our dinner rather late as it was very busy on the roads.

In the evening I had a good conversation with a veteran, who was told to report what he has been doing this week.
I was happy to hear he had followed my advice, so he can move forward to another bit in his life.
We agreed he will call me next week again, so he doesn't feel lonely in taking his next steps.

My veteran friends found out they can't go to London by train during the Remembrance weekend. There won't be any trains.
So they either won't come, or come the day before.... which I will welcome, of course!
