With lies that it's covered by Russian and Chinese ships he tries to convice the public and perhaps even himself that he should invade and take over Greenland for strategic reasons.
Let's have a look.
It is an autonomous territory/country in the Kingdom of Denmark, which consists of three parts: Greenland, metropolitan Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
Greenland is the largest area of the three. (2.166 million km²)
A small 1.2 km border is shared with Canada on Hans Island.
There are no roads, nor railways.
Due to the climate change, melting ice, the minerals of Greenland will be more accessible. We're talking about rare earth elements (REEs), lithium, zinc, uranium, graphite, copper, titanium, and gold.

Up till now the reactions to Trump are very withheld: "inpolite, unacceptable, disrespectful".
But the throughts and opinions about this are very clear:
He might feel he is on the winning site because he has inside information about the military defences of his ally, but he forgets that here is also inside information, and like I said: preparation....
Apart from bringing the NATO to the end,
he will certainly loose the option of winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
The prize is not only about intentions, but also about actions.
