West Nile Virus

 

The West Nile Virus has reached our country.

Today the media reported a 4th person died.
From 1 of them it's not completely sure if the virus was the cause of death because the person was laready dealing with other illnesses and received blood from someone who later turned out to have the virus.

With these the amount of contaminations went from 18 to 28 in a week!!

This year there are already 88 horses reported infected... but it might be many more!
100 birds tested positive. Mainly crows. But the total amount can not be estimated.

So we now have to deal with another danger.

Even though 80% of the infected people don't even know it, 20% develop flue like symptons and 1% will get neurological damage. The disease hits the most vulnerable worst.

There is no vaccination, no cure.


I have emtied all buckets with water.
Will think about a system for next year.
I have a large vessel... need to make a lid that allows water in, and keeps mosquitos and their larvae out.
