Roller coaster - 1

Let's call it a roller coaster... and it is.
Turns, counterturns, circles, amazement, fear and among it all: high blood pressure, sleepless nights, and so much talking that the teeth start to grind all by themselves.
I even talk in my sleep!!

And it's not about me at all.

It's about a vulnerable young woman who had some horrible experiences and is now in the hands of people who think they are more able to live life, who think they can change others and undo or cover the past. All based on theoretical studies and 8 week, 4 days and weekend courses.

Because they know so well, she had not enough trauma therapy, went in and out therapy and care settings, got worse on a therapy form which is advertised as an almost world wide very efficient way to change the lives of clients. It is told to use easy understood language, "Limited parenting" nd imaginairy rescripting. (So far for easy understood language.)

I became a psychologist in 1986. Which means I have seen therapies come and go, and I have seen therapists come and go.

Limited parenting means a therapist takes a role to create an attachment relationship to provide what someone lacked or missed in the past. Sounds positive.
Even though I wonder about the attachment part. Why make a person depenent? Why don't give a person the tools to find what is needed herself?

What her therapist did was ridicule her, ignore her, cling to her like a possesive jerk. It took 3 months to get him as far as to acknowledge her request for another therapist. 3 months!

She managed to get a lot of his replies in mail or on app. So she could show to others.
Her last, almost successful suicide attempt was a direct consequence of his attitude.

We have already announced he will be subject of a lot of complaints, both from family and professionals.

When someone is suicidal it's not surprising that in hospital there was only physical care.
The psychiatrist was just 300 meter away.
The hospital psychiatrist had a talk with that one and he stated there was plenty of room in the closed ward.
So she was send there. OK.
No therapy.
She would be released on friday. We protested...firmly...she too...
She was released on friday.

Yes, she was shocked by her own attempt.
Would she do it again? She didn't know, as her attempt was not pre contemplated, but a kind of possssion in the moment.

So friends and family were completely stressed out.
Her twinsister was with her, a volunteer helped to bring them and her stuff home.

Then suddenly they got a call, and they had to walk all the way back again (public transport strike).
Closed ward.
Bit of rest for all.

"Friday out"...
Meeting, firm protest...  Critical questions.
"Monday or tuesday out"
Fear was rising again. In such a way that both sisters sat down and wrote down how daughter2 was feeling. How afraid she was for herself. That she even would agree with a forced admission in a closed ward. (with some extra clear language of mom.)

Now they will work on a treatment plan, start treatment, make clear who will be involved and who will be available and when.

She will leave next week.

We're all stressed out.

Daughter1 is trying to speak to the GP there, as she was told she would be informed, and she hasn't been called one single time by the GP.
Today she doesn't feel well.

My blood pressure is far too high.
I have a heart disease, so this is not good at all.
Can't get it down by eating responsible and moving more.
So I have started to take extra medication.
And my jaw is inflamed again.

We're not trying to find out how to get her medication sorted.
She can only have on set for a day.

So we want to find little boxes that can be locked with a code, so we can give her a code each day.
But the code should be changed each time...

And we're waiting...
waiting what happens now....

  1. You are dealing with so much, it is no wonder your BP is up. You and your family are in my prayers. I am so sorry for what you are having to go through. We have a niece who had similar issues and also had difficulty even getting any kind of therapy...the therapists are all too busy and backed up for months...it's a terrible situation and very upsetting for the family who loves their child and wants her to have help before her next attempt is possibly successful. Thankfully finally she was able to get proper medication which seems to be helping and she appears to be in a better frame of mind right now. We can only watch and pray that it lasts. The ugly covid lockdown triggered a lot of this in our young people...sadly it may take years for full recovery from that fiasco. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers and hope proper help can be found for your daughter. I know that God is able, and without Him it is very difficult to even begin to cope and to heal. I am glad that you are able to keep writing. That is therapeutic in itself. But please take care of yourself. You are loved and needed. (((hugs)))

    1. Thank you so very much. Hugs...
A good therapist is a must. We feel the one she had tipped her over the edge.
I hope your niece will stay at the good side of the problems. Sometimes it's a small part of our lives to deal with this.
I know people often can't talk about this. That's why I think blogging about it is important. If people are not ashamed about it there might be more understanding and support.
      Thanks a lot!!

    2. You are welcome. I will continue to pray for you and your family. I know it involves everyone...all are affected by this situation in one way or another. Keep advocating for your daughter. Hopefully your concerns will fall on open ears and not deaf ears.
