Happy Homemaker Monday - 42 -

*** The Weather ***

2 Storms, clock adjustment to wintertime, and this week a high 20 degrees celsius is expected!! But with rainshowers.

The strange weather has caused that my red rose is in full flower, and the orange one has buds.
And at the same time pinecones are dropping... and I am sitting on the couch, morning and evening, shivering.

*** Right now I am ***

Like I said, shivering. I try to get used to the cold, as it saves a lot of money. But I might give in soon! (I did!)

We used to have a disabled woman living at one side and a student accountant with a lot of money on the other side. They kept their houses warm, and so mine had a higher temperature too. Now it often feels far too cold.

*** Thinking and pondering ***

My question to the nephrologist has been sent to one on thursday. She would be on duty on friday.
No response yet.
So either she ignores it, or the question will be discussed at this very same moment in the large meeting, or she will look into it after the shift...

My health is deteriorating and I need certain medications to get more control.
I so regret how things went when I wanted to study medicine. It could have been so easy, but they said I couldn't do it, because my math was bad.
A few years later it was part of my teachig duties! I tried to switch subjects with someone who was very good at the subject, but he said: "You do it yourself, you can do it!!" Thank you, Erik, for believing in me, because I could.
Then I had no money for the exams, so I studied medicine without taking exams.
My former GP was a study friend, so he knew me, and when I told him to write a prescription he did. He knew I would ever abuse this. Instead he regularly used my diagnostic skills.

The present GP is crap. Even good arguments won't have a result, as she doesn't have the knowledge.

It makes me mad that that dip in kidneyfunction could have been prevented!! And they do nothing!! Not even try to find out why I am dealing with kidney insufficiency. They just assume, without listening.

*** How I am feeling ***

A bit stressed whether the medication will be in time to adjust before leaving for england. Because right after coming back I will start with new heartmedication.

I won't be taking the old, nor the new heartmedication during my trip. Only the basic, the pills that stay the same. But my daughter travels with me, I stay in my "own" hotel, and during times things might go wrong I have my friends near, and they know what to do too. So I am fine with that.

I thought to have some moments alone today, but...NOT!

Son 4 called and he told me about a pile off mistakes by his council.
He applied for money he should get, kept asking them about it, but in two years got no answer.
I asked his local carers organisation, which is magnificent... giving his speccial councilnumber.
I was given the mail of someone who was supposed to help.
But in the meantime the woman there went after the issue herself.
Resulting in contact.

Turned out his application was refused, because he was living in a psychiatric facility.
The year before it was cleary put in his papers that he lives on his own, with some assistance, pays his own rent etc etc. So he was granted the benefit.

This one was declined. If they thought he had made a mistake before they should have told him and asked the money back. In fact they should have brought him to court for fraud.
At least they should have asked him if he has moved. (no.)

So he lives on his own. They made a mistake about his livingconditions, even though it was OK in their papers.

He never got a notice..  It was send two years ago!!
To where?
Why was the mail not returned when it couldn't be delivered?
So in this case the council ànd the postal service is at fault.

Etc etc etc.

So I have prepared a letter with a lot of legal words for the council.

Did the laundry and some cleaning and the day is almost gone again.

*** looking back***

We've had our student protests in between 1969 and 1973. I never particpated, because I had to work beside my studies. Sometimes things happened, a broken window, and quite some words to the police, words I won't repeat here. The suatter movement in our town was very decent and nice, providing herbal tea for everyone who came to have a look. But the rebels who came from the large cities started violence. We knew they were not from here as they had a western accent.

But they didn't demolish towers and houses and demolished the income of hard working people. No way! The fight was with the authorities.

Even then the French protests were far more violent. But what happened last week was frightening.
This is the war attitude: we don't care what we destroy... we don't care how people feel... We don't cre the hurt we cause, because it's not a good cause which is our aim: but destruction.

And I just heard that T wants O..an as the new chief of the united nations.
It makes me fear the future even more.
This man doesn't know anything about united... Doesn't care for other nations. He's just another dictator who falls for money and power. And because he falls for the money.. he befriended T.. and the yellow one.
OMG!!!

*** On the breakfast plate ***

Nothing.

*** on the lunch plate ***

The standard toasted bread with ham and cheese.

*** On the dinner plate ***

Salad, some fries.

*** On the menu ***

In the fridge: things for salads
And there is plenty of soup.

*** What I am wearing ***

Just something easy and warm. But due to the kidneyinsufficiency I still feel cold.

*** On my reading pile ***

More scientific stuff. But I am not reading much. Can't concentrate.

*** On my TV this week ***

In Aller Freundschaft, Fame, Flying Doctors.

*** Looking around the house ***

I have started to get stuff out of the compartment under the stairs.
It was never a place for me.

It looks like a huge room!
Mr. J. put a lot of things in there and hundreds of pots and tins.
Some didn't withstand the corrosion of time, so it's not nice to clean it up. Especially not because the entrance is not a door, but a gap up till the hips. And with my back-issues...

But I'd better tidy it now as far as I can.
To see what can still be used and what needs to be thrown away.

When clean, I can place more shelves in there and use it as clean storage.
It's the space I lack now.

*** To-do list ***

It's evening now, so let's say for tomorrow:

Check on a few veterans.
Get things sorted out for son4,
Phone the nephrology department tomorrow or the day after.
Get green crochet yarn to make some things for the veterans and christmas at the same time.
Get christmascards.

*** What I am creating ***

I have to mount the medals of my dad.
A very tiny miniature Forest Wonderland.
1:100 micro-scale proportion
Haven't done anything the past week.

*** In the craft basket ***

Lots of stuff.
Need to find things to make for remembrance day.

*** From the camera ***

Had to put up some photos because my phone was full.

*** Spiritual ***

It's not the quote that has meaning,
it's how we use it to improve the lives of others.

  1. The weather here is crazy as well. It's so odd for us not to have had a hard frost yet, it's made me put off bringing in plants that are usually inside by now. And some of them are blooming again as well. Hope you have a wonderful week!

  2. The system there for helping those who lack for whatever reason sounds about as crappy as the one here in the states. My oldest is disabled (vision impaired) and to get help for her for housing, living, food, etc is almost impossible now thanks to pumpkin we have in office. And it's almost always due to new policies that miss certain things the first go round and hit her later when it's time to renew.

I really hope your GP starts listening or that you're able to find one that does.

And I love that quote at the end, about how we apply quotes not just 'say/read' them.

    Have a great week.

  3. Weather is so fickle anymore, isn't it? I hope you get answers from the nephrologist, and I will be praying for you to get your medication as soon as possible. Sending hugs for the week!
