Tuesday 4 - Home Where the Heart Is

  1. What do you think of this picture.. the staircase. Do you like how it looks?  Does it say "home" to you? Would you like something that looks like this?

Yes, it looks like someone's home. So it does say "home".
In fact it looks like a neat version of my favorite hotel.

  2. Did you love growing up in your family home? Could you live in a house like that today?

The home where I grew up was modern for the time. My mother has OCD... one would call it that now. So everything was measured, clean, straight, and she wouldn't have allowed any gaps between the stairs and the cover.
I didn't love the house It was no home.
And I wouldn't like to live there now.

  3. What did your bedroom look like when you were a teen?

I had a bed in a cupboard, as they called it. So each evening I had to open the door and pull the bed out. Before tht I had to move a chair.
It was a real seventies room. The decoration! Orange chair. My desk against the wall, so I wouldn't bedistracted. Lots of books and tiny keepsakes. And a painting against the wall my gram gave me and which is now in the room where I sit here.

  4. What kind of vibes or atmosphere do you like to foster in your home today?  Sophisticated, homey?

A place to live in. Cosey. Bit weird. Full of stuff that represent memories.

  1. Like you, my house is full of stuff that represents memories. Lots of memories of ancestors now long gone, but their STUFF is still HERE! But that's okay. There are good memories attached. Much of it belonged to my husband's grandparents, and even though I didn't get to really know them (his grandfather died when my hubby was just 6 years old), I did get to know his grandmother, and I've heard so many stories of the family that I feel like I was there too. Your bedroom as a teen sounds very interesting...I guess that was what we call a 'Murphy Bed" that comes down out of a cabinet on the wall. It's kind of a nice idea so you have more room in the room during the day. Your orange chair sounds very 70's indeed! It would be quite the relic today! I can imagine that your current home is very interesting and full of unique memorabilia! I like that!

  2. I like all the memories I have. You have some nice ones too. I would love to have a painting that belonged to my grandmother. She was my BFF. It was nice visiting you. I have missed everyone. My surgery really knock me off my feet for a long while. I hope your week is wonderful. Take care and thanks for sharing.
