I don't know who had the idea that everyone can become president of one of the largest countries in the world, but I hope that person scartches his head wherever he is now.
I knowmany republicans are used to comenting in a negative way on everything democrats do, and they regard comments of the democrats on their party as habitual too... and as offensive...
It might be clear however that what is happening now transcents party politics and party behaviour.
Who hasn't read it yet should read Timothy Snyders books. Especially the one: "On Terrorism".
The good reader will see in letters what is literally happening now.
A socalled president skips all legal steps and sends in state based armed forces to control the crowds.
The press conference of the mayor of L.A. made very clear that there was absolutely no need and this act of power was only creating more chaos and inciting far more problems than it can solve.
The mayor was very well able to deal with the protesters, by using the police to deal with those who surpass the legal boundaries.
The protesters are not a simple bunch of students who think that well worded slogans can change the world, but a mix of those and professional riotters, who won't hesitate to ignite driverless cars and add more fuel to the fire. The last are driven by the opinion that fixed authorities can only be conquered by violence. So more opposition causes more motivation to use more violence.
In a country where police feels often on edge a perceived or expected increase of violence leads to uncontrolled behaviour. We have seen how easy it is for those behind masks and armour to loose common sense, which has lead to the death of those they wanted to arrest and other unwanted and illegal behaviour.
Today I was shocked by a video of one of these policemen acting completely out of his professional behaviour.
A part of a street almost empty... a female journalist with a microphone, standing in front of a camera...
a policeman... watching her....then aiming and shooting her with a rubber bullit...
A president who states that spitting to a policeman warrants disregarding all legal steps and warrants the national guard using violence.
Who started the whole problem by permitting ICE to carry out raids across the cities on a mission to remove anyone who looks illegal....
The fear of the citizens, even those who have moved to the USA a 100% legally, is immense. Some people are leaving to keep their family safe and prevent ICE violence.
Others who are caught were responsible working fathers taken from the working place, were kept away from their family, were handcuffed and chained from the waist and ankles.
The injustice ignited the protests. People stand up against racism, arbitrary arrests of people who have no white skin.
In many cities the ICE officers have no support at all from the police. So sending the national guard in mean enforcing and backing up the actions of the ICE officers. Which makes me think of the raids on Jews in Nazi Europe.
Sending in additional troops, 700 marines, was an action which was expected here.
