- My bestie and I once agreed that saturday of the Market Garden campwould be applepie day.
- When I'm nervous I often hide it. (But not always)
- My hair is always a mess I think.
- When I turn to the left, I see m glucose senor reader.
- My favorite aunt was my english Aunty.
The favorite aunt here in The Netherlands would visit us regularly to see the twins. Then her daughter in law got pregnant and she said: "Well, this was the last visit, as we will have little ones in the family now of our own." Never seen her again. She was the sister of my mother.
So my upbringing and her way of dealing with me made me feel worthless and a waste product. - I have a hard time understanding how people can deal with each other so respectless and careless.
- You know I like you if I keep seeing you.
- When I was 5 years old I was already fetching the groceries for my family for a year.
I didn't write this, but I was going to the corner store to get my father's Winston cigarettes when I was five; a different time.
ReplyDeleteI had to fetch all groceries, no matter the weight and amount. Got a list and the money. I wass lucky that when I was 4 and 5 the milkman was still coming at the door.
DeleteI agree with you so much on #6.
ReplyDeleteI am commenting on Roger's comment, but I had to get cigarettes for my mom when I was little too. It was so embarrassing to me. Loved your answers. Have a great day!

I think we all had to fetch the cigarettes then. Now they call it child abuse or something like that. People didn't even know smoking was bad. My father smoked a lot since ww2, but he had clean lungs when he died.
DeleteHave a great day too!
I used to try to hide my nervousness. I've discovered it pops out in other ways and places, so these days I just drug myself, legally.
ReplyDeleteYour local aunty sounds like a jerk.
Why use pills to deal with it? Just be the person you are.
DeleteYes, I thought the same. Never expected her to act that way.
Apple Pie day sounds great to me! My favorite pie, especially if it is "home baked". I am sorry your favorite English Aunty disappointed you. I can see why. Makes me stop and think about what kind of Aunty I've been to my nieces and nephews. Not always able to be there for them as we usually lived too far away, but I did the best I could and still try to stay in touch as best I can. I had some sweet Aunties, but again, they lived too far away from me to be able to see very often, except for the one who lived in the next town and I saw her every holiday and more. I still miss my Aunties.
ReplyDeleteWhen your were 5 you were fetching groceries for your family? When I was 5 we lived on a farm in Pennsylvania, but then we moved to Florida that summer before I started school. That was my first time away from home and my mother during the day...and then she had to go to work since I was the youngest of the 4 children, so life changed a lot after that. But it's all good.
I enjoyed reading your memories and thoughts. It's always good to hear from you.
Yes, home baked are best! And home baking creates memories!
DeleteNo, my favorite English aunty didn't disappoint me. The real aunt here did.
I didn't have a happy childhood, unless I was with my gram or outside with the other kids.I tried to escape after I did the groceries, otherwise I had to do cleaning. I loved to be at the farm nearby, getting the eggs out of the chicken sheds, sorting them. My mother didn't object too much as I regularly got some eggs for at home.
