D2 and the neurologist - 1

Haven't been updating about daughter 2 as there were so many things going on at the same time.

So let's take the neurological issues.

She had been feeling mentally unwell. Part presented itself as anorexia (she is a ballet dancer, so none was surprised).

When walking down the stairs, she suddenly fell and went unconsccious without hitting her head. One of the people who orked there walked behind her, saw it happen and was able to grasp her coat and prevent a hard fall.
The easy interpretation: it's due to the anorexia.

But moments like that happened more often. She would just pass out.
So it was thought that maybe it was narcolepsy.
But no proper look into it.

We felt bothered because of that, as one of her brothers had a neurological evaluation because of absences. And as a young child she could stare at people without even blinking... so maybe that was connected.

Narcolepsy, it was said. No treatment...

I know narcolepsy and epilepsy can look the same.
That was why we wanted a good diagnosis.
But the GP didn't give a referral.

You know I have DCM (Dilated cardiomyopathy). It's often genetic.
She started to display symptoms like palpitations, extreme tiredness, extreme shifts in heartrate.
That might be the cause of the problems.... or not.
And that certainly suggested a good review by the cardiologist.
She is on the waitinglist... 6 months...

Then two weeks ago she found herself at the toilet... and three hours had passed.
That finally was enough to get a referral.

Yesterday she was at the neurologist... who immediately connected her problems to her psychological issues.
Luckily she had her twinsister with her, who has a very clear way of pointing out that doctors should look into issues, not take the easiest way.

So she will get an MRI, and EEG, and it is asked to film the episodes, if possible.

  1. Wow, that is a lot to ponder...and I pray they will not wait too long to do the tests and get a proper diagnosis. A six month waiting list is not acceptable. Hooray for her twin sister, her advocate. (((hugs))) to you. I know you are very concerned. Praying for some answers and proper treatment.
