A Few of My Favorite Things
1. Do you have a favorite family recipe? Would you share it?
Not really, but I make "erwtensoep" (pea-soup) the same way as my gram did. We never used a written recipe.
In a large (14 l) pan:
All in small pieces.
Meat can be sliced later.
slowly bring to a boil, turn low, leave it for hours, stir regularly.
When the bottom starts to burn, pour in other pans, clean the pan, and put everything in it again.
When pouring in a bowl:
put some slices, cubes of smoked sausage/rookworst in it
and/or small pieces of bacon
add the soup.
Enjoy!!!
2. Do you have a favorite book? How about a movie? TV program?
I have quite some favorite books. What comes to mind right now:
Ernest Shackleton - about antarctic expedition. I have two editions: one very old, maybe a first, and one more recent. He was a huge inspiration and it taught me that one has to look beyond the preset situation with creativity, positivity and hope. Things can be done, even when we think it's time to give up.
Movie: Out of Africa.
Tv.
I like programs about expeditions, like to Antarctica, Amazon and Himalaya.
I stop for Programs about Tibet and old fashioned Tibetan Buddhism.
Casualty, doctors and scientifically based medical programs.
etc.
3. What is your favorite snack? Favorite sandwich?

Choriso
Sandwich with prawns

ReplyDeleteOh, pea soup! I love pea soup, but yours sounds especially wonderful!! It's like pea soup on steroids! LOL. I may have to try that one! I love your colors for the different styles of houses. Good choices. Your snacks? I'm not even sure I know what those are! LOL. I think prawns are what we call shrimp...but I've never had a sandwich of them! You may need to share a picture or tell more about how you do that. Thank you for participating! This was fun.
